GQ Lewis
I just received mine today. I was told by the sales person at Dell that the webcam was compatible w/ the OS X operating system. It is a beautiful monitor, but the webcam does not work w/ OS X and Dell's tech support seems to know nothing about it. GQ Lewis
The Macam plugin does allow but the speed is about 15 frames per second as oppose to the 30 that it should be and the picture is unusually dark. I now have the Pro 9000 Logitech webcam for Windows based PCs plugged into one of the USB ports, and it is performing much better than the built-in cam of the monitor. It also has an integrated mic. The extended features of the Logitech webcam are not available when using macam either, but the 2 MP camera with Zeiss lens is a much better picture. The cost is about half that of the Mac equivalent by Logitech. I am hoping that I can borrow/find a copy of the installation disk for the Logictech webcam designed for the Mac (the drivers may not work though). My video card is the ATI Radeon HD 2600, the System Profiler will shows the Windows Logitech 9000 USB webcam as the following: Logitech Camera: Product ID: 0x0990 Vendor ID: 0x046d (Logitech Inc.) Version: 0.08 Serial Number: EC358323 Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Location ID: 0xfd324000 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138988-dell-sp2309w-monitor-with-webcam-working/#findComment-1035895 Share on other sites

Foxxtron
I actually do have the Dell SP2309W attached to my MacBook Pro 4,1 (penryn) and the video cam works with iChat, Skype, Dell Video Chat, ooVoo, and a few others. A bit of tweaking is required for use with PhotoBooth (activating iChat, selecting the built-in iSight in iChat pref pane, then opening PhotoBooth whilst leaving iChat open). The only thing I'm stymied with is that there's no software to adjust the built-in camera setting when used with a mac. Still searching for a decent piece of software that may be used. jericolson
I just got mine and am using it with a MacPro. The image quality is fantastic which is a huge relief since I was quite concerned about the TN technology. But it's amazingly good. This is a very precise monitor - I would say on a par with my Eizo 20" which was about 4 times more expensive - with higher resolution. The webcam works partially in Skype - video both ways, people say the image quality they see from my end is the best they've ever seen - but they get no audio from me, although I can hear them. So - missing outgoing audio. Does anyone have a solution for this? paikinho
Check out this thread for more info. http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/OS_X_u...ll_SP2309W.html I just got mine from Other World Computing. You can make the camera work with iUSBCam according to other world computing. It is free to try to see if you can make it work and like $10 to purchase. http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iusbcam/installing.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138988-dell-sp2309w-monitor-with-webcam-working/#findComment-1094636 Share on other sites

jeffzoom
The trick to getting it working is to have the USB from the monitor plugged in on boot up. If you plug it in during sleep and wake it, it won't work, it has to be plugged in on boot, works perfectly with my mbp 5,1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138988-dell-sp2309w-monitor-with-webcam-working/#findComment-1458973 Share on other sites
