bob78h
Thanks! Can you tell anything about the HD4850? I read that it works but there aren't drivers? What does this mean for use? (I'm not a noob about computers, sorry if my questions make me sound like one...) (I'm not a noob about computers, sorry if my questions make me sound like one...) You can install OS X without choosing a specific video driver initially and just run with VESA mode.....allowing you to use OS X while searching for a driver for your GFX card...... bob78h
Ok one last question... I think I'm going with iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5, right now on my hard drive I have Vista Home Premium x64 installed. I don't want to lose any data, how can I dual boot with iDeneb installed on the second partition? I don't want to lose any data, how can I dual boot with iDeneb installed on the second partition? Try EasyBCD as follows: In EasyBCD your BCD entry for OS X will not be pointing at the OS X boot file location, i.e. Darwin EFI bootloader (which then points to the OS X system)......so, try 1. Set up OS X target volume on the second primary volume, partitioning it as MBR and formatting it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using Disk Utility on iDeneb Install DVD 2. Boot into Vista....go to EasyBCD.....then to Bootloader Management....and choose to "Reinstall Vista Bootloader" 3. Install the Darwin EFI bootloader/OS X setup 4. In EasyBCD add a new OS X entry Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138802-which-release-is-compatible-with-my-hardware-if-any/#findComment-982405 Share on other sites
bob78h
So I can use Vista's Disk Space Manager to shrink the disk then create a second partition? Then I format it in iDeneb? Then boot Vista and use EasyBCD Then install OSX Then after that it'll still boot Vista anyway so I can go to EasyBCD? Doesn't it go straight to OSX after the install? bob78h
Ok first problem: booting the DVD, I get one of those cross circle signs, like the "no smoking" one while at the apple screen with the spinny thing. Whats this mean and how can I fix it? EDIT: fixed it was the "still waiting for root device" error Now for some reason OSX DVD didn't detect my unallocated space... I went and then created a partition in vista, not formatted. The DVD then only detected 100 so GB of my hard drive (out of 500)... Help anyone? You need to have the unallocated space formatted using Vista so that OS X can recognise it......i.e. either NTFS or FAT 32........ Audio and ethernet can be sorted out by finding and installing correct driver kexts.....for wired Ethernet see here..... Yes OS X requires ACHI mode enabled if that is a BIOS option, and for ACHI and Vista.....see here.....
