My computer automatically turns on at 6:00 in the morning. This morning at 8:00, I found the Apple Wheel still spinning at the startup screen. I rebooted in verbose mode and it got stuck here:

com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.mDNSResponder[random_number]): posix_spawnp("/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder", ...): No such file or directory

This message repeats over and over again.

First, I tried to get into Safe Mode or Safe Boot or whatever Apple is calling it these days by both holding Shift at startup, as you would on a regular (not Hackintosh) Mac and using -x at the boot input to disable mDNSResponder. Neither of them worked, the same problem of the never-ending wheel and when I also threw verbose mode in there, I was getting the same error. So, I booted into Single User Mode and tried to disable mDNSResponder as outlined here. It just says:

launchctl: CFURLWriteDataAndPropertiesToResource(/system/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist) failed: -10

launchctl: Error unloading: com.apple.mDNSResponder

Same thing when I run Terminal from the JaS install disk.

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Reese Hyde
