csouther Posted November 22, 2008 Share Posted November 22, 2008 I have an Inspiron 8500 P4 (sse2) with the latest bios updates that runs 10.4.3 perfectly except video acceleration. I'm wanting to install Leo but am having no luck getting Kalyway 10.5.2 installed. It just reboots itself once it gets to EFI.... I cant see it cause it flashes so fast and I can't pause it in time. I know this is a common issue but I cannot find anything helpfull in the threads so if someone knows what commands I need to type to configure it properly or what Kext I need to add to the DVD inorder for it to boot right it would be very much appreciated. So far I have tried: -x -s -f -v speedstepkernel - starts to boot but then reboots at the EFI part sleepkernel - brings me back to the mail selection screen (press f8 or enter to start...) I was told only these two kernels work with sse2 cpus. Please help me out! I'm lost in this new world or Macs. ProjectMx5 Posted December 20, 2008 Share Posted December 20, 2008 I got Jas 10.5.2 working well almost on my inspiron 8500 Boot the jas DVD select all that apply to your hardware, dont remember what ones I picked but it was every option that sounded close to my hardware. After your install it will boot osx but you will not have a keyboard. install a usb keyboard and finish the welcome screen stuff. If you have a white screen on first boot use the -v option. Once done open the install dvd and look in the plugins folder for all patches with ps2 in the name and install them all. Reboot and you now have keyboard and mouse. Sound working Ali or ac97 driver Mouse keyboard after manual install of packages off cd Battery icon? not out of the box but there should be a package. broadcom Nic working after my second install not first not sure why. Wireless - I upgraded to a broadcom wireless but it is not working yet Video - I upgraded to a 128mb quadro fx 1000 working out of the box AGP - not working agpgart gives white screen of death PCICMA - wireless card not detected? not sure if it is the slot or the card? Modem - not tested System runs fast but had problem with ical and idvd Ical can be fixed by right clicking on it click on info and select open with rosetta. Idvd not working yet.
