Hello everyone,

I have the "Still...device" on my PC, no matter what options I choose upon installation...

Can anyone help me?

My rig:

Mobo: Intel Original DP35DP (Intel P35 & ICH9R)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.40Ghz

RAM: 2 x 2Gb DDR2 PC5300 Kingston

Graphics: Innovision GeForce 9600GT 512Mb DDR3

Audio: Onboard 7.1 (STAC9271)

HDD: HDD Seagate Barracuda 200Gb P-ATA [iDE]

DVD-RW: Samsung Dual Layer

Could it be the P-ATA HDD?

Pleeeease help... Layne, any idea to help me install your creature?

Hello J,

I'm already downloading Kaly 10.5.2, since it worked on Leopardino's DP35 (see insanelymac.net). But this is the plan B.(by the way, is there a newer release?).

Still, I'd like to give the iDeneb a try, and it's kind of a tecnical challenge. It's not only about having a working Mac, it's about installing it on a different platform than the one originally designed for it.

So if you have any ideas, I would really appreciate it. :(

Hello,

I gave Kalyway a try, still No Joy...

I still get the "Still waiting..." error. As with iDeneb 10.5.5

So I ask again: "Could it be the P-ATA HDD?"

I read everything I had to read, I tried everything that could be tried, I patched everything that could be patched... nothing...

Anyone? Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase?

Ok. It's definitely the PATA HDD... I borrowed an 80 GB SATA Maxtor, and tried both Kalyway and iDeneb... Guess what: they both installed like a charm, they both booted up like a charm (less than 15 seconds for the Kaly, 30 seconds or so for iDeneb), they both superbly ignored the IDE DVD Drive (I had to install a SATA DVD to load cds and dvds).

I didn't try yet all the other devices (LAN, audio, firewire, NVidia, etc..) but I think i'll have only minor problems...

Still, I would have liked to make it work on a PATA drive...

To be continued...
