Hi yawl,

Can someone please help, I just posted a request (I think in wrong area) OSx86 Installation / OSx86 10.5 (Leopard)

and called it "Yukon NIC Fail after 10.5.5 update" (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=137364)

I've given it a red-hot go, but am getting nowhere fast.

I just can't deny the fact Kalyway 10.5.2 custom setup worked a treat, and supposedly, Mysticus C* patch put it back after Combo Update to 10.5.5. I'm thinking something other than IONetworkingFamily.kext is wrong here.

Any ideas reeeally appreciated. Ready to try anything!!

Cheers,

tis all over, I whimped and put a PCI card in

was that or rollback to flawless 10.5.2

I have the same problem. After I updated to 10.5.5 the card would not respond any more. I was using a cheap PCIEx1 88E8053 card.

Does your card still work on Linux/Windoze? Mine doesn't - it seems like a new kext from 10.5.5 did something to the EEPROM :thumbsup_anim:

This is very strange - but could be a mobo issue as well. As soon as I get my new moinboard (GA-P35-DS4 :D ) I'll test this card again.

Before we get the straight, a warning to all 88E8053 (and possibly other Yukon2) owners:

Do not update to 10.5.5 yet, it might corrupt your card's EEPROM which makes it unusable!

Update: other users' cards still work, I guess mine broke for other reasons...

Apple gathered AppleYukon and AppleYukon2 into one kext, and after the Backup it tries to load the AppleYukon.kext always. Backup the AppleYukon2.kext (3.1.7b2), delete all the AppleYukon* after Update from the Plugin Folder and copy back this backuped kext.

It worked for me, 8055 GB LAN.

Something still not clear, why is there in IONetworkingFamily.kext/contents/plugins/

- AppleYokon2.kext

- and also, AppleYukon2.kext.orig

.kext is...... <string>Apple Yukon Ethernet 3.1.7b2, Copyright 2007 Apple Inc.,

.kext.orig is <string>Apple Yukon Ethernet 3.1.8b2, Copyright 2007 Apple Inc.,

1) Why would ORIG be renamed (and therefore not used) and an earlier rev loaded at bootup.

2) And who did that; Apple, Kalyway, or Mysticus C* patch?
