light_sith
I think many of us might have the same desire: - A small system is nice to have, but due to micro-atx and thermal issues not so easy - A silent system. Definitely a must. Isn't it? - Compatible. Don't want to buy hardware which turns out to stop workign when 10.5.6 comes out. - Cheap. Well, except for the millionaires among us. My proposal: Chassis: Sharkoon Rush Case very cheap case, good thermal characteristics, yet small and allows for standard power supply Power Supply: Enermax Pro82+ 385W the best one can buy, most efficient, absolutely silent and good quality Board: Asus P5E-VM HDMI needs to be micro-atx, this Asus seems to be very compatible board. Cheaper option would be P5K-VM, though I did not fix the ventilation issue (still running after shutdown) in Ideneb 1.3 yet. P5E-VM HDMI should be better ?! RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR800 Just cheap memory. Kingston is often quite good, while MDT and other cheapo's might have issues. CPU: Core2DUO E8400 Good performance/price ratio. May also use some E2220 for cheaper system. HDD: WDD WD 400AAJS Cheap and enough space. VGA: MSI NX8500GT Cheap (like it cheap!) and should be compatible DVD: anything SATA Don't bother about this I would be pleased to hear opinions... or suggestions Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136750-smallcompatiblesilentcheap-ht-setup/ Share on other sites
