I am SOOOOO torn on the motherboard issue. Please reply with any comments you have, lol.

At first I was going to get the Intel D945GNTLKR but the reversed audio jack thing, lack of OC'ing BIOS features, and CPU fan voltage issues published by Intel have my looking at the ASUS P5LD2-VM. However the ASUS board does not have EFI or TPM. Let me explain why this concerns me and maybe you can talk some sense into me, lol.

I have high hopes that soon we will be able to flash EFI mobo's so that features we are missing out on can be fixed, take the ATI framebuffer thing as an example. There are also a couple other features too. Then the TPM thing, I also have hope that these can somehow be hacked someday either hardware wise or software wise, so that OS X can be installed right from the original Apple image with no patches needed once the EFI thing is working.

On the flip side of all of this however is the distinct possiblity that by the time all this can be done, the new Conroe based Mac desktops will be out and we may be looking at a totally new set of hardware components. I mean it seems to me that once Apple releases the Conroe desktops, soon there will be an Intel or other motherboard that is so close to the one Apple uses that we will all be buying that and with just a few hacks/patches here and there we all will have PC hardware that runs 10.5 100% perfectly!

Please share your thoughts? Am I thinking too far ahead? What part of this, if any, is most likely to happen and in what time frame? Because if I'm just WAY over thinking this, then I'm going to buy the ASUS P5LD2-VM and OC my D 940 to 3.9GHz and not have to worry about the reversed audio jack thing!

Anyone? Bueler?

BTW, here is my post which shows my current hardware choice:

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the most important thing of all to me would be being able to run an AMD proc, I HATE Intel, lol. Aside from EFI & TPM, the graphics issue is what's stopping me. I mean how far are we really from getting the framebuffer issue on the ATI cards fixed? Also the chipset issue, are there any AMD boards with chipsets that are 100% compatible with OS X so that I don't take any hit at all on system speed?
