im into hardisk performances now

i tried to use ide and sata drive on nforce 4 mobo and both gives 50% in xbench

do u think i can go much faster with the hardisk speed?

if i put fw800 external drive will it gives me more speed in xbench?

I have other issues of stability, too. Sometimes the PC just freezes and I have no choice but to manually reboot. I'm a noobie to BSD and OSX, so I'm just learning how OSX loads and uses extensions and how to diagnose conflicts. The SATA thread seems to have petered out without finishing the subject...

SATA or SATA 2 buses are much faster than IDE. Your hard disk probably isn't as fast as the bus in the former cases though, so I'm not sure how much it matters.

 

Most of my disk tests are more than 100, but there are a couple that really drag it down with a Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drive:

Uncached Read 166.46 30.89 MB/sec [256K blocks]

 

I don't know why the Random 4K write/read are so much lower than everything else. Anyone else have more knowledge about this?
