johnzbesko
I'm at this point, too. See this post: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...t=0entry86547 I have other issues of stability, too. Sometimes the PC just freezes and I have no choice but to manually reboot. I'm a noobie to BSD and OSX, so I'm just learning how OSX loads and uses extensions and how to diagnose conflicts. The SATA thread seems to have petered out without finishing the subject... JimBob
SATA or SATA 2 buses are much faster than IDE. Your hard disk probably isn't as fast as the bus in the former cases though, so I'm not sure how much it matters. Most of my disk tests are more than 100, but there are a couple that really drag it down with a Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drive: Disk Test 57.60 Sequential 114.32 Uncached Write 123.94 76.10 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 113.36 64.14 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 102.46 29.99 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 119.92 60.27 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 38.50 Uncached Write 17.45 1.85 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 117.82 37.72 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 31.16 0.22 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 166.46 30.89 MB/sec [256K blocks] I don't know why the Random 4K write/read are so much lower than everything else. Anyone else have more knowledge about this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13641-sata-ata-fw/#findComment-87270 Share on other sites
