Hey guys, so after years of wanting a Mac, I finally got a white Macbook I saw going cheap in a computer store. I'm absolutely loving it, I no longer have to put up with Windows.

The model I got has the 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo processor, but only 1GB or ram and an 80GB hard drive. However, I am about to order a 4GB upgrade kit and a new, larger hard drive.

So, as a new Mac user, can you guys give me any useful information and tips?

Andrew

Verify your specific model, the "early ones" won't like getting 4g shoved in them.

Don't worry this model can take 4GB

But I was hoping somebody could help me with that.

At first I was looking at this Corsair ram;

But then I saw this ram much cheaper:

or:

Would there be any disadvantages to using the cheaper ram?
