quantum88 Posted March 31, 2006 Share Posted March 31, 2006 I have a Chaintek nforce3 250 motherboard with builtin ac97 audio. It had been working fine when I was running 4.3 until I tried to patch to run frontrow....I think. Anways, I'm now running 4.5 and still having the following issue: audio seems to work on and off. I'll play a few songs and maybe switch to some other one, and voila! no sound! It only starts working again after I mess around with the volume slider in system prefs. Is anyone else having a problem like this? It's really agrivating and unfortunately I have to wait a few more months before I can purchase my imac.....so I'm basicly stuck with my machack till then. After reading some other threads, I tried replacing my ac97 auido kext with one I found on one of the threads.....now my sound doesn't work period! I get an error that says it was improperly installed. Has anyone delt with a problem like this before? I'd really hate to have to reinstall!
