Taruga's patch does not work for this laptop (it worked for my desktop)

i've followed this tread

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=132495

and from "no build in audio" on the system profiler, i got

Audio ID: 12

Available Devices:

Microphone:

Connection: Internal

Speaker:

Connection: Internal

but i got no sound at all

in system preferences says "no output device found" and no icon on at the finder bar

i know i'm very close to get it

i don't know what else i can do

this is the top of the linux dump (if it helps)

Hello,

I have the same laptop sitting here that has OS X isntalled on it. With audio working! It is a DV5-1000US that I have had as my little project for this weekend installing OS X for a friend on it. Heres how I got the IDT audio working after hours of trial and error (and its simple):

1. download HDAEnabler.kext

2. download age_sabres18's AppleHDA pre-patched*

3. download OSX86 Tools

4. Run OSX86 Tools

5. Using OSX86 Tools install the HDAEnabler kext (click the install kext button and choose hda enabler you downloaded from above)

6. Navigate to /system/library/extensions/ and delete ALCInject.kext

7. Restart

8. Using OSX86 Tools install the ApplaHDA.kext that was pre-patched (same way HDAEnabler was installed)

9. Restart

10. After the restart you should have audio.

*My problems where that I could not find my device id's. I ended up finding your post and used your id's. Which revealed to me that age_sabres18's post on how to install IDT audio had the same audio codec we had. So we could use his AppleHDA that he patched for his computer. He posted it in the same thread but in a later post. I then realized after it still didn't work that I had forgotten to remove ACLInject as it was stopping HDAEnabler from running and starting the audio.

I hope this helps, as I had spent a whole day searching and searching to finally find your post the key to my solution!

hey!! thanks a lot for replying!!!!!

yes it is a dv5 1000us, i'll try your way to doit this after noon, if you got it working i should as well, thank you very much!

now..... what about video, did you get it working??

what dvd are you using?

what kernel?

i'll post the results

thank you!!!

Al

Yeah, I'm glad that it worked for you!

As far as the video, I couldn't get it to work and it doesn't look like there will be any drivers any time soon. Because apple has switched over their mac books to nvidia. The only way would be if someone ported the 4500mhd from bsd. Which since its a newer card could be awhile.

yes, kind a sucks.... :D

i got the same answer from somebody else

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry919313

just wanna to double check

now that you are there i have to ask you..

wireless???

i'm getting away with a usb stick

thanks!!!

Al

lol, wireless actually worked perfect out of the box for me.

However, because there are several different ways to install 10.5 heres what i used...

Kalyway 10.5.2 and then updated to 10.5.5 using the following guide to make sure that the 10.5.5 upgrade goes according to plan instead of not booting properly. Also following that guide will help in the fact that everyone else says install normal and then boot from disk and fix the problems. But thats more hassle.

Guide

Heres basically what the guide says:

1. download the pre/post packages it links you to (you do NOT need the nforce chipsets).

2. download the 10.5.5 combo update from apple

3. install the pre-update (dont restart or shutdown)

4. install the combo update (dont restart or shutdown - you will need to leave window up while you do next step)

5. install the post-update

6. finally restart

7. all should be good

note: you do NOT need to run or use the pre-nforce thats included in the packages you downloaded. It's not needed for the hp dv51000us.

Also, just in case your wonder. Heres what I got working and what i didnt.

ethernet - couldnt get working at all

wifi - works as noted above

bluetooth - works out of box with distro noted above

audio - works as i noted in previous post above

video - will never really get it working as i noted above (yes this means the hdmi port wont work)

synaptics - work by default (just needed to enable the setting)

quicklaunch buttons - work partially by default (the volume and mute work perfect but media controls dont)

webcam - worked perfectly by default

power management - worked after installing the power management from his easy to follow instructions

usb 2.0 - by default as most do

the pci express slot i havent had a chance to test yet...but it showed up in system profiler so it looks good. and i cant think of anything else...

(p.s. i got it dual booted with vista and os x 10.5.5 using darwin bootloader - works like a charm)

Thanks ebbinger_413!!! I was totally 100% confused with all the different ways of getting the sound out. Luckily Aldo77 posted all the information that resembles my linux codec dump, which I found more easier than the windows approach, except, no AppleHDAPatcher. So, I just follow your steps and there it is.. the sound comes out! My iPC 10.5.6 Leo is running on CQ40-128AU. Thanks to both of you!! And all the osx86 masters (ebbinger_413,PCWiz, etc ;) )
