Captain Kirk
I have an HP Pavilion with a secondary SATA drive (the kind with the thick gray connector--I think that's SATA), and a GeForce 8400 GS video card. I got a Kalyway 10.5.2 and installed it on that 2nd drive and it works fine (but no driver for my video card which I need b/c I have two monitors). So I then updated to 10.5.5 via http://netkas.org/?p=50 This also went fine. Then I wanted to get drivers for my GeForce 8400 (to get two heads working) so I tried this tool http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20 but I made the mistake of also doing the EFI Studio thing and I played with it and anyway I broke my OSX--no matter what I try (-x or whatever) I can't get a desktop. Not tragic b/c anyway I am a newbie and it was pretty much just a week old install. I am a REAL newbie to OSX but I know Windows and Linux OK. SO the question is, what should I do now? I was thinking to do the same again--Kalyway 10.5.2 and then upgrade to 10.5.5 and then try again the nvidia driver tool and SKIP the EFI Studio thing. But is there a better way? I see there are other DVDs I could download and burn. I have SSSE3 on this Pentium IV dual-core so it seems maybe iDeneb I could do--it seems to be 10.5.5 out of the box. Or maybe another one? The main thing I want is to get two monitors working. If I can get, then I'm set. Any suggestions? Thanks!
