Monte SS Burnout
I have an HP Pavilion dv6607. It has an AMD Athlo x2 64 processor. I downloaded Iatkos v4a, for amd processors. It loads fine, however when I go to disk utility, there are no partitions shown, or hard drives either for me to format to mac format to continue the installation. I have a wdc wd1600bevs-60rst0 hard drive within the laptop. I have 2 partitions, one partition with xp that is 40 gigs, and another partition that is 109 gigs (meant for mac). I tried to format it to fat32, ntfs, and even "none" types of partitions, and none are recognized. I also did the chain0 dual boot successfully. The disk utility doesnt even recognize the xp partition. Is there a way I can patch the iatkos v4a with a sata driver (kext), or is it hopeless for this laptop? Monte SS Burnout
hmm. Does your laptop have the same hard drive? I'm downloading Leo4Allv4 as we speak. Did you have the same problems as I did with Iatoks v4a? And one stupid question, did you get the buttons to work (volume, play pause, etc)? I had to ask, haha. Monte SS Burnout
Ok, so I downloaded Leo4All 4.1 and ran that. It showed a hard drive, then froze during the reformating of the hard drive into mac format. I tried this numerious times, and even reburned the cd, and still, the same thing; it froze. I tried to format my hard drive to mac through partition magic, which i successfully formatted it to hfs+. I then went back to Leo4all, and it saw the drive as hfs+ lunix, and it wouldnt let me install mac on it, so i went to erase the partition for a mac, and it froze again. I've been so busy with school work, and the laptop isnt even mine, its my brothers, so It has been hard to find time to work on it. However recently I downloaded Kalyway 5.2 intel amd and that gave me the same problem as iatkos and, not seeing the hard drive at all. So now I'm stumped. Maybe I will try to redownload Leo4all again just for the hell of it. I tried to search for a program that formats drives to mac, but i didnt find anything. I have a xp partition on the laptop, and I even installed Macdrive on it. And it wont let me reformat the partition to mac format, I have no idea why. Any suggestions? haha Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135845-disk-utility-not-seeing-hard-drive/#findComment-994925 Share on other sites
Monte SS Burnout
Well just for anyone who views this post searching for solutions on google, or anything, I will conclude my results: So I pretty much tried everything to get mac on this laptop. I took out my sata drive from the laptop and reformatted it for mac on another computer, and put it back in the laptop. Failure. I reformatted the drive to hfs+ using partition magic, and that method failed because it wont let me mount linux formatted partitions (linux is the basis of that program). Once the drive was formatted in hfs+ by a mac computer, i tried both leo4all and iatkos amd, and both failed. It seems like everytime i was 99% there to getting mac installed, the computer would freeze. For example, in leo4all, like i said previously, it sees the hard drive, however when i go to format it to mac, it freezes. So in the installer, i used terminal to reformat the hard drive. And with about 20 mins of trial and error, i figured out the right code to format the drive, and upon entering it, the laptop froze. I also booted to single user mode (-s) and I figured out the right code to format it there as well, afterwards freezing there. Well after going insane thinking of solutions, I took my external hard drive, and connected it to my computer during the installation. I installed iatkos amd onto the external hard drive, and... SUCCESS!!! Haha. It was a defeat success though, because I dont want to have to connect an external hard drive to my computer to run mac os. Anyway, i did get mac to finally install after all this time spent, so my time wasnt totally wasted hahaha. I hope anyone can learn from this. {censored} HP. lol.
