I'm not sure if anyone come across this error during the install process and can offer insight.

New install with iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 on the following hardware:

Shuttle SG31G2

CPU: Intel E6300 C2D 1.86GHz

Video: Asus ATI HD 3450

Memory: 2x1GB OCZ PC2 8500

HD: WD SATA 320GB formatted to Mac OS Extended Journaled

Was able to boot up successfully and start the installation process. Selected the following options in Customize:

- ALC888 Patched by Taruga

- ICHx Fixed

- Skge marvell

I've tried installing with a PATA and SATA DVD drives, SATA and PATA HD. All failed at the same place. Also burned several DVD with different speed. MD5 hash of iDeneb match.

It would get to about 75% and shows "Install failed: the source media you are installing from is damaged...", snippet of Installer log:

pkgExtractor[162]: BomFileError 2: No such file or directory - ./usr/X11/share/doc/renderproto/renderproto.txt

pkgExtractor[162]: 206595 of 206595 file written in 844.39 seconds.

pkgExtractor[162]: 6272428 kilobytes installed at 7.3 MB/s.

pkgExtractor[162]: pkgExtractor exited with error 1 while processing package '/System/InstallationPackages/Leopard-1055.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz'

OSInstaller[124]: destinationVolume is 'untitled'

OSInstaller[124]:Install failed: The source media you are installing from is damaged. Try installing from a different copy of the source media or contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Thanks for any pointers you can give.

I also get the same problem during installation i.e. at about 75% the installation stops with comments like : "Bad installation Media, contact your retailer etc." I was installing iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5.

Please help

My System is

AMD Athlon 2800+

VGA 256MB nvidia Gforce FX 5200

Ram 1 Gb

I also have the exact same problem with iDeneb, exact same error.

My system is:

ASUS P5E

Intel Q6600

Nvidia 6600GT

4gb RAM

installing to 40Gb IDE drive

I've done all necessary checks:

MD5s match

Tried burning multiple disks, different speeds - all fail at same place..

i have JMicron SATA/IDE controller which is in AHCI mode.. the installer boots fine but fails at 75% of installation complaining that media is damaged.

The weird thing is, I've just tried iAtkos 5i as well and i get a similar error : "Could not validate the contents of the 10.5.5.Intel package" .. Sounds a bit familiar!

I wish I knew what was causing this, it is driving me nuts! If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

zipzip - what DVD drive were you using? Mine is a Optiarc SATA AD-7203S.

Cheers,

Ryan

Hi all,

My first post here - having exactly the same problems as Ryan G with the following specs:

Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi

IDE Asus DVD drive

IDE 40GB HDD

Nvidia 6600GT 256MB

2GB Ram

Done alot of reading and haven't found a solution to this particular problem so far.. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Cam

Update - for anyone with this problem (as there seems to be a distinct lack of solutions)

Check the obvious thing - the iso!

Turns out that the iso was incorrectly patched and therefore would never have worked, no matter how many times I burnt and checked it.

Now have a completely different problem but could get the install to complete.

Hey,

got a similar problem here:

I tried several different ISOs, 2 different DVD-burner and several DVDs but my installation always fails in the last ~25%. I'm beginning to think that there is something wrong with my DVD-drive, but when I compare the DVDs to my ISO-files in Windows they pass verification.

Has anybody discovered another cause for this problem?

Thanks,

BnW
