binary.koala
hello, after an unusual CPU upgrade my mac mini is not capable of playing video and/or sound properly. it jerks, skips and pauses , depending on a player, front row is not playing anything at all. 'unusual upgrade' i said because in fact the frequency of my cpu is now lower, i swapped standard CoreDuo 1.66 with ULV Core2Duo 1.06. according to wikipedia the FSB freqs of cpus are different 667 vs 533 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel...age.2C_65_nm.29 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel...age.2C_65_nm.29 ) i tried changing the boot parameter in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist to <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>fsb=133</string> , however no change in playback quality. and i think my clock is also wrong sometimes - so something is fishy here. any ideas how to fix? ultimately, i would reinstall osx, but it seems like a lousy solution. Reveeen
It would appear that you have "upgraded" below the threshold of the minimum requirements that Apple states as required for video playback. Sometimes we can fool an underpowered computer into video playback, even H.264, by using a "real" video card, but you don't have that option.
