avoidfloyd
I am using bootcamp and have been for the past few months with Windows Vista. I haven't had a problem with it and was using it last night with no problem. All of a sudden today when I tried to open it, the Desktop appeared for a moment and then my computer restarted itself. I haven't downloaded anything or updated anything since last night when it was working fine. I tried to shut off automoatic restart which didn't fix the problem. I tried to restore it which didn't fix the problem. I even removed windows completely from my computer, re installed it and it seemed to be working fine for a moment. But as soon as I ran the disc to install boot camp drivers for windows and restarted my computer, the same thing happened- the desktop cam up for a moment, and then the computer restarted itself. It doesn't happen when I'm running mac osx, just windows. It's driving me crazy and I need windows for work. What could the problem be? How can I fix it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! update, I just started my computer in vista in Safety mode, and that worked fine. But it still restarts in normal mode. Any help, please... avoidfloyd
So I still don't know what caused this, but if anyone else has this problem, or one similar, here is how it was fixed: I unplugged my mac from the power adaptor and took out the battery. Then I held down the power button for 5-10 seconds - this is supposed to repair problems with any drive on your mac (all partitions). It worked, windows runs smoothly now.
