hi all,

first post here, so here's hoping someone can help me! I'm getting a Mac pro in the next couple of years but in the interim i have my XPS which serves me well; however i really want to put OS X 10.5 / leopard on there to start getting used to the interface and do things things that i find so difficult with PC's sometimes ;-)

so... i went to osx86 and see my desktop is supported with 10.5.2, but to find and use the kalyway edition.

i found/installed this first time with no problems (and subsequent disabled most items in teh BIOS i dont need... onboard NIC etc).

booted ok, installed all ok.

then the first boot it passes through some brief lines of text then reboots (not enought time to read the error).

I DONT get the white background with the apple logo.

so i tried disabling more in teh BIOS (hyperthreading etc) and tried again with very little options on the DVD...

same problem.

spec of my desktop:

Dell Dimension XPS Gen 4

Pentium 4, 3.73GHz (Extreme Edition)

3GB Ram

using SATA to IDE adaptor & using SATA port 1 or 2 i think ~ (reason for this is that i wanted to test the install before i wiped my SATA hard drive and build a fresh install of OSX + WinXP).

ATI radion x850 xt platinum edition 256mb

logitech mx 3200 keyboard/mouse (wireless usb)

1 DVDROM

1 DVDRW

1 Floppy drive

only one hard drive connected (as mentioned above)

curerntly got logitech quickcam connected to back of desktop. ~ although not fussed if this works with osx.

intel PCI 56k modem (537ep)

broadcom netextreme NIC - but did disable this in bios.

creative audigy SB 2 ZS

i hope someone can help me!!! I'm getting desperate and cant afford a MAC right now :D

Thanks to all who can help in advance,

Russ
