Help with installing Kalyway 10.5.2 (FIXED)

hello everyone,

Thank god for this forum, without it I would be at a loss! So here are the specs I am working with:

 

Mainboard : EVGA 122-CK-NF68

Chipset : nVidia nForce 680i SLI SPP

Processor : Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 @ 2666 MHz

Physical Memory : 8192 MB (4 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )

Video Card : ATI Technologies Inc ATI Radeon HD 4650

Hard Disk : ST3500630AS (500 GB)

Hard Disk : ST3500630AS (500 GB)

DVD-Rom Drive : SONY DVD RW DRU-830A

DVD-Rom Drive : DEXKHS LQFG5UNKT2 SCSI CdRom Device

DVD-Rom Drive : MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM0000

Monitor Type : Samsung SyncMaster - 22 inches

Network Card : Broadcom Corp BCM4309 802.11a/b/g

Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3

 

I am trying to install this on a fresh hard drive without dual booting. I have two hard drives in my box and would like one to be XP and the other OSX (if possible). Everything goes fine but when the Darwin "-v" begins to run, the following errors appear;

 

AppleNForceATA: warning phy connection failed=0x00000000

Firewire-usable to determine main security mode.

 

Then the actual install itself gets hung up around 7min left. Everything just freezes...Now I heard that the DVD drive sometimes goes to sleep during this install so just move the mouse around. Which believe it or not got me to 6min left, but then eventually froze. The image I am using is the Kalyway 10.5.2 (for testing purposes). I burned the image at 4x using infrarecorder.

 

EDIT: I also made sure that my BIOS setting are correct.

 

EDIT 2 FIX: VERY early this morning I figured out what was going on and was able to get the installation to work.

1) After the first install of Kalyway. I manually restarted the my box each time it froze. I noticed upon every reboot, I was getting closer and closer to finishing the full install.

 

2) Upon reboot, DO NOT do anything other than go right into your OSX install. Don't mess with any of the settings. Just continue to install the same thing over and over again (don't even touch the disk utility).

 

3) After the 6th reboot from the above. I went into the disk utility and repaired the drive from the install DVD. It repaired and Mac said everything was good.

 

4) I rebooted only this time I applied -x at the Darwin prompt. I let everything run its course and vola! I now have a working version of 10.5!

 

This wasnt done from an update either. This was the first hackintosh install on this HD :-)

Its weird, what would make the install just freeze like that? Mouse stops moving and pending bar completely freezes.
