mtotho
Ok, I have not been on the scene for over 6 months now. I like to think i have contributed much to the scene. I've helped many a person. This is a link to a guide i made a while back that has just shy of 1000 posts http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83689 Anyway, i wouldnt mind if someone could catch me up a bit and help me. I know, there is a search function, but i know as well as you guys all know, its not always what we are looking for. I left the scene right as update 10.5.3 came out. I stopped using my hackintosh, but unfortunately the one i have created for my dad is still in existence, chugging along with 10.5.2. And here is what i need to do: -Safely update his Hack to the latest software. I can back up all his files just incase something goes bad. His specs: -Core 2 duo E6600 @2.4ghz -Abit AB9 Quad GT (mobo) (- Intel® P965 / ICH8R Chipset) -Nvidia 7x00 Gx (i will confirm the exact model later) -2gb of ram -Sata hard drive Everything else is pretty standard, and everything is working pretty darn well.. it is just not up to date. Question of the day is: What is the most effective/Safe way to update? Are there good combo updaters, or shall i reinstall with an up to date Distro? I realize i have not confirmed the video card (not near it now) but what are the odds it will be troublesome? Thank you so much in advance.
