If anyone has got some other ideas please post here as i'm still not giving in. Thanks. gidra Posted November 9, 2008 Author Share Posted November 9, 2008 I got another dump using the latest mandriva distro and it gave me different results from the former dump which was taken using Mepis 6.5 (which is quite an old distro). kc78 Posted November 10, 2008 Share Posted November 10, 2008 hello! try this kext, use kexthelper to install. remember to remove azalia kext. it seems that your first codec dump looks like mine. with this kext i got mic in, line out (to low volume), optical out stereo. gidra Posted November 11, 2008 Author Share Posted November 11, 2008 Unzipped properly now, dragged to kext helper b7 and restarted hackintosh (hope that is the correct way of installing kexts), yet no results My ALC880 is the most stubborn piece of hardware i've ever met, the sole kext which made a slight difference is ALC880 Leo by MadTux. I'm still not giving, today i tried to follow http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127819 tutorial but didn't managed to complete it as i found it a little bit hard.
