caladan1810
Hi everyone, this is my first posting here & I hope someone can help me. I have Mac OS X 10.4.4 (8G1165) with Maxuss's Patches. I placed the DVD into my DVD-ROM, rebooted & selected to install Mac OS X. After a few minutes the Mac OS X Boot Screen appeared & I thought great it's going to work. The Installer loaded. Once the installer had loaded I went to the Utilities Menu & Selected Disk Utility... I then selected to partition my disk with 1 partition using Mac OS Extended (No Journalling). My disk was partitioned & formatted. I quit the Disk Utility... went back to the installer & continued installing Mac OS X 10.4.4 (8G1165). I selected not to install additional language files or Printer files with exception of Canon. The Installation Started & Installed what I selected. Optimizes my systems Performance. The software was successfully installed. Then I am advised after install the computer will reboot in 30 seconds, which it did. However for some unknown reason. My notebook reboots & I have a totally blank screen & a cursor blinking on my top left screen. With no Mac OS Boot Screen (Grey screen with apple). Have I missed something? any assisstance would be greatly appreciated. Here are my system specs: Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4.4 8G1165 x86 Manufacturer: COMPAQ Model: Presario 1500AU (Notebook) Processor: Intel Pentium 4, 2.0 GHz RAM: 256MB Hard Drive: 60GB Toshiba MK6025GAS Optical Drive(s): TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2512 -- CD±RW LaCie DVD External DVD±RW Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 thanking you in advance Cal. caladan1810
Hi everyone, seems like I managed to fix my own problem & here's how I did it. I now have a Dual Booting Windows XP & Mac OS X 10.4.4 Compaq Presario 1500AU Notebook. My Installation Method: 1. Insert Mac OS X Install DVD x86 [Mac OS X 10.4.4 (8G1165)] 2. Once Mac OS X has loaded into setup, select language to use. 3. Open Disk Utility... partition drive into 2 partitions, this partitions & formats. partition 1 40.00GB Windows XP (installled later) partition 2 15.89GB Mac OS X 4. Select partition 2, 15.89GB [Mac OS X] press alt-q to close Disk Utility... 5. Go back to Mac OS X install & continue to install the selected packages. 6. Once Mac OS X is installed, then re-boot into Windows XP & edit the boot.ini file & copy the chain0 file to root of drive c:\ 7. Reboot from Windows XP select Mac OS X & continue with setup for your username etc... 8. I now have a Dual Booting Windows XP & Mac OS X 10.4.4 computer. I have only one slight hitch, every piece of hardware is detected except my Ethernet.
