Godowski
Update for 10.5.6 I got dmg image 10.5.6, and have successfully installed mac os 10.5.6 on this board. (You can do this with original Mac OS X Leopard DVD disk - but I do a DMG image because of faster installation) 1. With disk utility you have to Restore the dmg image of 10.5.6 to temporary disk. In Source select DMG image file of 10.5.6 and for Destination drag the temporary disk from left pane 2. Boot the PC with boot-132 disc for p35-ds4 3. Select 81 in my case temporary disk and start standard installation on other disk 4. After installation, restart, boot again with 132 disc and apply ls8_15 and select what you need. The psystar realtek driver caused kernel panic at the next reboot, so don't select. Then chameleon, efi studio strings only for nvidia 9800GT because the network driver works, and the audio is implemented in LS8 v15 I can confirm that sleep, restart, shutdown works and 'till now, third day, I have not had problems with anything For motherboard GA-P35-DS4 P35-DS4 P35 DS4 DS4P I have read all the topics about gigabyte P45 boards but I cannot find any complete topic - tutorial how to install from a scratch. Most people says that this one - p45-DS4 is one of the most compatible mobo but I cannot find any sucesfuly story. Anyone have did it successfully? tnx? I can confirm that the installation with 10.5.4 retail competed almost sucesfull with ISO disk, and some problems with audio, but update to 10.5.5 succeed only with bike town 1.1.5 (without firewire support) What is the problem with LS8 v14? After LS8 I cannot boot Before, I have P35-DS4 and have not problems. UPDATE!!! Successful story 1. Set AHCI in bios 2. Boot with ISO boot-132 disc for p35-ds4; change the disk with 10.5.4 retail and install (I have 10.5.4 Retail) 3. Get LS8v14 and run pre-patch (maybe this isn't necessary ) 4. Open Terminal and enter sudo -s (at the installation before i was unable to change to SUDO after applied patch 10.5.5) 5. Install 10.5.5 combo without restart - close all programs before running update and don't run anything 6. RUN LS8v14 post-patch select only what you need - You can always re-run this patch again 7. Reboot and wait.... after a 1-2 minutes the hackint0s will auto-reboot which is normally after applying combo update 8. Boot with F8 and -x switch 9. Install EFI studio Graphic, Network, Audio - save to bootplist, than install Chameleon and reboot 10. Download latest patch for P45-DQ6 audio and apply kext with osx86tools - can be downloaded at code.google.com Now I have problems with restart and shutdown but I do not applied all the patches from LS8 11. With OpenHaltRestart 1.0.3 I have problems with reboot, I remove that kext and than installed AppleACPI kext from LS8v14 I think now is everything ok! I tried firewire (my sony handy-cam), my sony ericsson k800 to USB and recognized as modem etc ... oliwr
So, Huge Update after i was getting a constant root device error with my IDE DVD drive, i've now switched to a SATA drive, and BANG: it really was the IDE DVD drive. I can confirm the P45-DS4 to be running perfectly and with very little kext-changes. Installation process: - MacOSX 10.5.0 Leopard Retail Installation Disk - Boot 132 with the standard original grub bootloader ( see http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113288) - Enable AHCI in Bios (note: If you're using vista before doing this, make sure you set msahci "start" to 0. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 ) My hardware setup is: Sata DVD and HardDisk. HardDisk on Port 00, DVD on 01. Play around with this if you get the waiting for root device, and do not use a IDE DVD device, it did not work for me. - Burn the Boot 1-3-2 and boot into the bootloader - when you see "boot: " eject the disk and insert the retail dvd. press enter twice to use default boot device and boot the dvd - The DVD should enter setup without any problems. Make sure you enabled ahci if you get the waiting for root device/stop sign on the apple - In the setup, choose your desired hard disk you want to reformat with hfs+ journaled. Either use the entire harddisk or pre-format a partition with a program of your choice in Windows if you wish to DualBoot. Make sure you check GUID boot tables instead of MBR in the Utilies -> disk app (by clicking Options in the formatting tab). - Continue the Setup and choose the new partition you've created. Run the setup, this should take about 30minutes - After that, reboot, insert the Boot 1-3-2 disk again and boot it. - Press enter and choose the hard drive you want to boot (in my case, the macintosh drive is the first one, the windows the second), it's either 80 or 81. If you're not sure, enter one of these and press enter - There should be a highlighted "Mac OS X..... (something" there. If not, press ESC and enter the other value - Press enter and boot into mac, if you're experiencing problems, type -v and then press enter to use verbose mode -you'll only have text output until it has booted - It should boot into macosx right away. Depending on the hardware you use, the graphics card might work only in vesa mode (which is 1024x768, you cant change this in osx itself, though you can force it to run). My PS2 keyboard would not work without patching, so i used a usb keyboard which worked flawlessly. Also external drives (USB) were detected right away. - Networking worked right away for me, though I had to add the Ethernet device in System preferences -> Network first. - Audio will most likely not work, use the given kext here in this thread to fix that As this is a true vanilla install so far, it should be no problem to install the 10.5.6 Combo Updater and the Automatic System Updater - which both worked for me right away! (Though the 10.5.6 combo updater did not end properly, it stuck on 97% - it still worked on reboot). Install the 10.5.6 Combo Updater (download from apple site), let it install, reboot (with the Boot 1-3-2 again) and wait for the "MACH Reboot" and use hard reset to boot again. Repeat the process with the Automatic Updater After that, install the kexts and EFI versions you desire.
