spooked
Hi After spending long hours (3 days in all) trying to figure out what excatly the problem could be, I have almost given up researching, which explains why I am posting this today. I initially had some problems installing OSX86 on my machine by booting off the DVD. The whole process used to take just way too long. After speaking to several people on IRC and running through a lot of forum threads and finding no solution to the problem, I gave up and finally downloaded VMWare and installed through it. Now, Tiger OSx86 10.4.4 works perfectly well with VMWare. No issues whatsoever. I even hear the "error thuds" for crying out loud. But for some odd reason, the machine just wont boot up when I try to boot up through Native, directly off the HDD, without VMWare. It always stalls at the line BSD root: disk0s1, major 14, minor 1 Are there some post installation steps that I need to follow? I read on some threads that the steps are mentioned with the readme file on the ISO. Unfortunately, it isint for me. I used the HotISO to install OSx on VMWare. P.S: I also installed the new ATIkext file that some nice folks uploaded on the Forums just yesterday from the following link: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...t=0entry84993 thanks to jbjones who totally deserves the iPod btw. Just didnt know how to do it with his apparent EZ Method, so I might have screwed up, considering I dont really know how to use Unix. I really have no clue how to chmod files and all with unix. Damm. There must be an easier way like doing it off the root login like scousi said sometime back on one of his posts. So thats the method I've gone about it with. Please help if possible. It'll be much appreciated. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13385-boot-up-fails-on-native-ati-chipset/ Share on other sites
