Doug the Impaler
I've done lots of installs on Intel machines. This is my first (maybe second?) AMD box. I downloaded iDeneb 10.5.5 and patched the DVD (the MD5 sum verifies this). I still can't boot the DVD. I have an IDE DVD-RW, but an SATA hard drive. This is an nForce 4 Ultra board which doesn't support AHCI so there's no option to enable that in the BIOS. Any suggestions? The other hardware is an Athlon 64 4000+, 2GB of memory, GeForce 8600GT. But none of that seems worth worrying about at this time - I'm pretty sure there's somethign I need to do with the BIOS to get this bad boy going. Doug the Impaler
solved it myself - the PATA DVD-RW needed to be set to Master rather than Slave.
