I stumble across this tip from http://x86osx.com (it's a Korean site)

For the fastest internet on the already 'faster' hackintoshi comp. ;) and also with ppl who have problems with internet speed

1. set your IP manually

2. Lock your network preference pane

3. check your speed with services like www.speakeasy.net (on the bottom, speed test)

If ppl already have posts like this. let me know.

Use safari to see the most improvements

Hope this helps, please reply if this helped you. :)

I will admit I do not know alot about osx86 quite yet, but I can say for certain I know an extensive amount about networking. The only different I can see your suggestion would make, is when the machine boots up, it won't have that 2 -3 second wait where your NIC requests a DHCP address. If one were experiencing a slow down and this helped, it is likely that the lease time on the DHCP server was set very low possibly causing the machine to request a new IP every so often. Even so, most machines do not request new IPs when the lease runs out, only when the machine is rebooted or was manually renewed from the operating system.

Sometime we can't believe everything we see.
