Calvin Watterson
First of all, excuse my terrible English! I´m doing my best I have a problem installing OSX. I have 10.4.3 and 10.4.5 install disks, both of them work into other pcs (from my friends) and have been succesfully patched with SSE patches and others. My laptop is a Vaio model very similar to the ones said as compatible in this site. (Pentium mobile 1.7Ghz SSE2, 1GB ram, i915 graphics...) A "network controller not working" issue. Whenever I try to make the install: - Darwin prompt, some times I hit enter and others I try with -x option - The beautiful apple appears in grey screen - A light blue screen and nothing happens I was trying lots of times until my pc surpassed that blue screen: - A circle with colours appears, the installation starts - I format the HD with the correct option - Installation takes an hour to complete and says its succesful I restart and: (copypaste) - Darwin prompt, some times I hit enter and others I try with -x option - The beautiful apple appears in grey screen - A light blue screen and nothing happens Restarting lots of times until surpassing that hateful screen: - A grey screen with music Nothing else happens, after waiting for a long time So I think that the Darwin "randomly" manages to boot in my pc. Please help me! I'm so jealous my friends have it up and running Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13218-vaio-randomly-loading-installation/ Share on other sites
Metrogirl
Vaio hardware is a bit picky. Make sure your wireless/WLAN/bluetooth is turned off with that switch on the front and you have no SD or MS memory cards plugged in, and no PCMCIA cards either. That might help, or you might have barely-passable installation media - the DVD drives in some VAIOs have problems with some media, notably Memorex and certain other CMC-manufactured DVDs. It might be that something didn't get installed properly because the files weren't read as they should be. Random errors are always the toughest to solve. That's the limit of my VAIO knowledge but with luck some other members might have more suggestions for you. Calvin Watterson
Thanks Metrogirl. Exploring this forum I found also some info about intel 915 graphics card having an issue cause of the VGA out port. http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=6880 I hope this time I´ll succeed. Calvin Watterson
Oh, that didn't work at all. I tried with the external monitor trick, no PCMCIA, no MS, with every bios configuration available... I've spent a whole week on it. I have a doubt: How does it come that my laptop is listed in the compatilility list of this site? Who did succesfully install the MacOSX86 in this Vaio ??? Whoever you are, please help me!
