As i understand the still waiting for root device is beacuse of no driver for my hdd controller or smth like that, but can i add some kxt to the dvd? I have nforce 4 chipset and Seagate hdd ata Hi, I had the same error. It could be a kext but you should try different settings in your BIOS. My "still waiting for root device" error was caused by sata being in IDE mode. My OS X is on an SATA disk. When I changed it to ACHI it booted up.
