I hear that most people have this driver that dogbert wrote himself (impressive) working great. I am not having much luck though.

I am getting a kernel panic every time I do anything involving sound, whether it's a system sound that attempts to play or I try to access the sound settings. No sound actually comes out of the speakers, mind you... just crashes.

I think it has something to do with IOAudioFamily problems. It says that it cannot find the necessary dependencies in the system profiler. This may be related to the fact that my sound card is actually an on-board. However the device/vendor ID still match up. I made sure of that.

I have been screwing with little settings here and there for days and I can't get it to stop crashing and just work, even a little.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm completely new to OSX.
