Nathan12
I've installed 8F1111 with Wesley's patch and Maxxuss' 8F1111A patch on my Dell Dimension 4550 with a NVidia FX5600 Ultra. There are a couple problems, but mainly affecting usability is random crashing. Using the Finder seems to aggravate things, but other applications such as Office do too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think they may be related, but I don't know enough about this to be sure. Nathan12
I apologize, I apparently didn't get everything copied over. There was more information at the top of the log that I didn't copy. I'm at work now so I can't get it verbatim, but the general cause was: EXC-BAD-ADDRESS followed by a hex number. Based on my experience, if I'm reading it correctly it was trying to access a memory location that is shouldn't. I'm guessing it was trying to access VRAM not available with the 256 showing but only having 128, or bad memory? I remember Apple has always been more specific and less tolerant to bad RAM than other OS's, but this is the original 512 stick from Dell, and I've never had a problem with it, if this is the case. Linux/Windows has always just run with it fine. I did try the beta Nvidia drivers but that caused a dual-monitor situation on one monitor, similary to dual workspaces in Linux. However, the monitor wouldn't re-draw when switching which left major desktop errors and I couldn't live with that. However, the drivers did allow me to switch resolutions, and did show the correct RAM. I didn't have a crash during this time either. Any advice from the wizards here? Thanks! thesog
I'd suggest trying 10.4.4 as lots of improvements were made between 10.4.3 and 10.4.4. Other thing you may try is to flush/rebuild your kext cache and run repair permissions for good measure. Nathan12
OK, I think it's fixed. How? I downloaded the 10.4.5 iso, and now my system is more stable, and faster. You guys rock!
