eugenemacmahon
Hello all, Well, I dont know if this is a big deal or not but I managed to install 10.5.2 (Leo4allv3) from the DVD into a VMWARE 6.5 Beta Virtual Machine and its operational with vanilla kernel but no quartz extreme or wireless but the bridged network allows network connectivity. This was VERY straight forward and I haven't found anything online that is clear and easily explained so I've wrote this. If you interested heres what I did: The system was a Dell Laptop XPS m1330 (my friends laptop) with a 2.66ghz dual core processor and 2GB Ram. The laptop had VMWARE 6.5 Beta (free with permanent functionality) installed. I created a custom VM using FreeBSD 64 Bit and specified 1 processor, disabled the floppy drive in the bios of the VM also, thats all, no editing of the .vmx config file, nothing else. Selected 1 processor, 1 Gb of ram and specified a SCSI hard drive and allocated the space. I only used 8 GB. I then just booted the leo4allv3 osx86 dvd, went to disk utility and made 1 partition (using the name OSX), under options I selected MBR because apple partition table is selected by default. Finally, by complete mistake, I just went ahead with the install, didn't select anything else under customize and hey presto....it worked.... I have not found instructions this basic anywhere else so I said I'd drop a note. To the techie snobs who will probably bash me for writing this, please make a post with a clear link with instructions as basic as this. I don't think I'm a genius or anything, but I thought this could be helpfull to people who want to get this fantastic system running in a VM. (I have it running native on a Dell Inspiron 530s) All the best, hope this helps someone out. Drop me a message if you want any more information. eugenemacmahon
The laptop had xp sp3 installed, this was installed into the VM directly from the leo4allv3 DVD, no flat image used!

eugenemacmahon
cool how does it run? I may give this a try lol It's very useable, a bit slower than a native install as expected. My native Leo boots in 14 secs, the VM takes 35 but once started is not visabley slower. As good as any VM installation, sorry, it's better it's osx. nice one eugenemacmahon :censored2: i can confirm that it also works under linux using iATKOS 10.5.4 Did you get QE graphics, sound, anything else working gazzanova? So far, only tried Leo4all v3 and others have told me Iatkos 2 works. yep i got iatkos v 4 to work. Just used default settings and had to format the partition via disk util. Were you able to get vmtools installed? The mouse movement kinda sucks, it was fun though im really just waiting for damn 4850 support, really wish i kept my 8800gt at this point lol... NO QE for me either in the VM.
gazzanova
Were you able to get vmtools installed? I tried installing the vmtools but since the OS settings are FreeBSD it tries to install those tools so vmtools install fails For linux users i found a really good hack to speed up vmware http://flipcore.com/2008/07/vmware-player-make-it-faster/ edit: just found a similar program to vmtools called VMacTools from Gnubeard http://######.com/index.php?option=...3&Itemid=
