After a little fussing around, I was able to get 10.5.5 up and running with battery/wifi/bluetooth/sound/usb and the x3100 driver using iDeneb v1.3 installer on my Dell Inspiron 1525. (yes, I do own a retail copy!)

I was pretty pleased with the setup and went to go install iLife '08... DOH! CD/DVD's don't mount anymore. I went into system profiler under the disc burning portion and lo and behold "There is no device... blah blah" I know the drive does function because over the course of the day, I had re-installed leo like 5 or 6 times experimenting with different configs.

I booted with the -v and didn't really see anything out of the ordinary fail. Does anyone have any generic idea as to where to reinstall the driver, or check to see if it's failing?

Thanks for any info!!

What options on the DVD did you use to load ideneb 10.5.5 onto your 1525? I can only boot into safe mode. When I try to boot normally, it just hangs. Looks like you're right - even in safe mode, no DVD Rom. I'm still playing with my set up and will post if I get it to successfully boot or even if I can get the DVD Rom to work in safe mode... Maybe I'll go back to Kalyway 10.5.2 - seemed to load fine then.

Alright, decided to reinstall with different options... and it worked!!!! Got wifi, dual monitor, battery all working... havent looked at sound yet but it also mounts my DVD drive!.

I should have written down the options I used in the customize screen but here's what I could remember....

Selected: ICH7/8/9 under chip set.... I think I chose the 9.4 kernel.... I did not select any video drivers.

I used the DellLaptop post install package I found off of the forumns to get wireless working. I also installed macfuse and NTFS-3g so I could read and write to my vista partition from Mac OS.
