Hi guys,

Could someone please help. I've seen this problem posted several times but no clear solution has been provided. I've managed to successfully install 10.4.4 on my P4 2.8 ghz intel system i have sse3 but no nx/dx. After installation I booted into the 10.4.4 partition with the '-s' option(I have another partition with 10.4.1 on it) and the screen started scrolling with all the kexts loading then it just blanks up, nothing showing whatsoever not even a single line of text. I tried loading from the Darwin bootcd but that didn't work, neither did Hiren's bootcd. So I then tried with different kernels, all the the kernels I had didn't work so as a last ditch attempt I tried the 10.4.1 kernel I had since that worked without a hitch on my other partition.

The result was: it actually tries to start single user mode after the kext load(which is an improvement over the blank screen) you can see some text but it stops on "waiting for remote debugger connection" then "kdp_poll: no debugger device" then it just stops. This is probably cos of the imcompatibilities between the 10.4.1 and the 10.4.4 kernels but still it shows me that with a different kernel it actually went farther than previously thought. Does anyone have a different opinion? Would be really glad for the help. Also, could someone please PM me a working 10.4.4 mach_kernel for intel with sse3 but no nx/dx? Would be extremely grateful. Thanks!

I seem to be having a similar problem with a fresh install of 10.4.6 off of the JaS_10.4.6_Install_dvd. I only have a P4(desktop processor) 2.8Ghz HT with SSE2 on my laptop. Is shows it loading all the ktexts then it blank screens for about 10 minutes then resets my computer.

My computer specs are:

ProStar D5P notebook computer

Intel P4(desktop processor) 2.8Ghz HT with SSE2 (no SSE3)

Intel Chipset

768MB of Ram

Radeon mobility 9600 Pro 128MB

ok it was my fault, I was installing the the SSE2 patch for the AMD and some AMD components. I installed the Intel components. now it boots up to the grey screen then after a minute or two my screen is full of shapes and colors that do not resemble MacOS. so now I think I need to delete the radeon drivers, that seemed to fix the video issue on an earlyer install of OSX
