10.5.4 - laptop internal keyboard unusable

Hello,

I'm installing the 10.5.4 update on a Dell XPS M1530, using the old method (sleep script, remove "Don't Steal Mac OS X.kext"). After reboot, my laptop's keyboard does not work anymore (even hitting Caps Lock for example does not light up the led). USB mouse is working fine. Everything else seems to be in order, and I get no special messages during a -v boot.

This is on a Kalyway, the original 10.5.1 disk. I can update to 10.5.3 just fine, using the Kalyway Combo Updater. But after that, 10.5.4 breaks the keyboard. I've even tried updating to 10.5.5 after that, using the "visual keyboard" to click my password in (blargh). Again, after reboot in 10.5.5 everything is ok but the keyboard. It's not usable in single user (-s) console mode either.

What's really, really, getting on my nerves is that I followed the exact same steps, with the exact same disk, same laptop, a month ago and I did not have any keyboard issues in 10.5.4. I don't know what I'm doing different this time around.

Any help would be much appreciated!
