Hi to all at this forum.

Im so looking forward to having OSX 10.4.4 running on my intel, as its such a sexy looking OS, and i hate Windoze with a passion.

Ive installed it to a lil 10 gig drive (just to test) and it goes all the way thru the install process beautifully.

Upon restarting though, i get this message, after a period of time, of sitting and watching a flashing cursor on a black screen.

'/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

Any known reason for this message ?

I have tried the install twice now.

After reading a post from macgirl, she states "Osx should not be installed to extended partitions".

Well on my first try, the default install was OSX Extended (Journaled) so i let it do that.

On the second attempt, i used Unix File System

Both dont work for me..ending up both occasions in the above error message.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

Maybe i should just go buy a new Mac....as it would be guaranteed of working, but i find this way at least will get me up to speed on OSX and how to use it, before i rush out to buy a new machine, and cant operate it.

Kindest Regards

Ozzy

OK Folks...Thanks for the replies lol ( just kidding)

Just thought id let you know, for other peoples benefit, that i got OSX workin.

Heres what i did :

On my 120 gig Windows Drive, i resized to allow creation of a 60 Gig HFS Partition by the installer.

Altho, had to use Partition Magic to Create an Unformatted Volume in the free space created.

Installed OSX 10.4.4 from the DVD. (Already Patched)

Install went thru fine, and rebooted as normal, and then XP started.

Remember, i installed OSX to the 2nd partition of my first hard drive.

Thats when it occurred to me, that it may pay to try a boot manager.

Enter Boot Magic Rescue Floppy.

Booted off the floppy, selected the OSX partition to boot from...and OILA OSX Loaded.

IM Happy Now.

It only Took me 12 hours of scratchin my head...but finally got it goin...

I know..must sound like a bit of a lamer....but please remember...ive never used OSX ever before today...so im stoked.

Anyways...still have some minor probs...

No Keyboard

No ON Board Ethernet ( 3Com 3C920B-EMB-WNM Integrated Fast Ethernet )

No Sound ( On Board SoundMAX AD1888 )

A little bit of Searching thru this Forum, and im sure ill work it out eventually.

Thanks for allowing me into your community

Ozzy
