thebunny
Hi, I set up a virtual disk in VMWare 5.5 but the installer doesn't see it and neither does the disk utility. Is it possible to install to VMWare virtual disk images or does it have to be a real disk? Thanks. stokd
I just installed VMWare and was wondering the same thing...I don't *think* it'd have to be a real disc, simply because in the days of PearPC it wrote to a file that acted as the HD...just a thought, I could be wrong. Enlighten me people lol. Also, in VMWare, what type of OS do you tell it you're installing? I just chose "other" for now, don't know if it'll work though... thebunny
i installed it to a virtual disk, so it should work So what did you do? I can't get the installer to see the virtual disk no matter what. Disk is IDE, independent-persisitent. Should I boot off Linux and make a partition or something? thebunny
2 1337 to help others... Anyway, if anyone finds this thread, I got it to go by booting a Linux CD, creating a partition, setting the type to 'af'. At that point Installer still wouldn't see it but Disk Utility did. I was able to partition the virtual disk with Disk Utility. The whole thing is dog slow on a Sempron64 @ 2 GHz... Cheers.
