Problem after 10.5.3 combo update

As the title suggests, after installing the 10.5.3 combo update as well as vanilla Kernel my computer can only boot into Kalyway by typing "update -v -f" for advanced booting options: but my harddrive icons are screwed up and my USB ports don't work.

 

The problem is I can't boot normally without the "update -v -f", I'll get a black screen telling me that my monitor isn't recieving any signal, and then shortly after my computer will reboot and I'll see the Intel BIOs splash screen.

 

my specs are---

Intel P4HT 3.2GHz

2GB DDR2 RAM

X1650 Radeon

80GB SATA Harddrive

Intel 925X

Well, you should NOT be using Vanilla kernel for a P4 system. Select the Modbin kernel if you wish to update, or roll back to the 9.2 ToH.

Alright so:

 

1) How do I remove the Vanilla Kernel?

2)Do I just run the 10.5.3 Kernel update again and install modbin?

The easiest way to do it is to run the comboupdate kernel package and select the bottom checkbox. Restart with update -v -f, and then do a final restart with no Darwin boot options.
