fuzzy001
As the title suggests, after installing the 10.5.3 combo update as well as vanilla Kernel my computer can only boot into Kalyway by typing "update -v -f" for advanced booting options: but my harddrive icons are screwed up and my USB ports don't work. The problem is I can't boot normally without the "update -v -f", I'll get a black screen telling me that my monitor isn't recieving any signal, and then shortly after my computer will reboot and I'll see the Intel BIOs splash screen. my specs are--- Intel P4HT 3.2GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM X1650 Radeon 80GB SATA Harddrive Intel 925X
ameris_cyning
Well, you should NOT be using Vanilla kernel for a P4 system. Select the Modbin kernel if you wish to update, or roll back to the 9.2 ToH.
fuzzy001
Alright so: 1) How do I remove the Vanilla Kernel? 2)Do I just run the 10.5.3 Kernel update again and install modbin?
ameris_cyning
The easiest way to do it is to run the comboupdate kernel package and select the bottom checkbox. Restart with update -v -f, and then do a final restart with no Darwin boot options.
