rick90660
I'm using Windows XP Pro on the Parallels VM, but I wanted to know since I can't get the internal wifi to work NATIVELY on the Mac OS X Leopard, can I use the windows XP drivers for the Atheros AR5BXB63 card and install the drivers on the VM to get it to recognize it? Or am I just asking a really stupid question? I don't have the cash to shell out for a new Wifi USB dongle, and I'm afraid to play with KEXT files, but I have an Acer Aspire 3680-2682. And i'm just looking for someone with the same set up who got wifi working correctly. This is the only thing holding me back, I don't even care about ethernet right now I just want wifi to work! =/ What do I do, ahhhhhhgh help me! x R i c k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/126062-question-can-you-use-parallels-to-use-your-atheros-internal-wifi-card/ Share on other sites

USB dongle??? That makes a lot of sense, rather than edit an info.plist file and add your cards ID's you'd rather spend as little as possible to buy as USB wifi adapter that doesn't come with and isn't supported by the manufacturer to operate in Mac OS X meaning you will probably still have to edit an Info.plist file to make it work so you tell me, are you further ahead spending money plus more time and energy on your USB dongle or would the time be better spent on the build-in wifi? I'm not lazy, or stupid. It's just I asked for help here, hoping that someone knowledgeable in the area would bring forth some light on the subject and no one did. So I found some other guy with my same set up who gave me some edited Plist files for the wifi card he was using, I purchased a 15 buck wireless card to go inside, and i'm just waiting on that. I do NOT prefer awkward dongles, nor did I want to resort to having to use one. I like taking the hard route, but when i'm unfamiliar with advanced editing of kext files and such I don't tinker, I let the more informed folks that I know take a look and teach me. But yeah, thanks for you interjection. I appreciate you at least taking notice of my post. PS: When the hell did I ever say I wanted to use a USB Dongle?....Can you quote it for me because I can't find it.... You said [I don't have the cash to shell out for a new Wifi USB dongle] which implies you want to buy one but can't afford it at this moment in time. A $15.00 card to go in side, is this going to be a real apple card or just something you could get cheap cause you have no money? A $15.00 card to go in side, is this going to be a real apple card or just something you could get cheap cause you have no money? You know I won't lie to you. It is cheap, but it's also the card that was recommended to me by the guy who's been helping me get my OS X running properly. But what is it to you really? I mean, I'm soo sorry if I don't have tons of money to spend frivolously, I'm a student at UC Berkeley and work part time and can't afford to spend 60 bucks on an authentic apple wifi card. Is that so wrong?....Are you using an authentic apple machine when you run OSx86 on your PC or notebook?.....No. You're not. When I get the money i'll buy an actual MacBook, that's all there really is to it. I don't appreciate your kind of help, either. Why do you feel the need to practically bash me for trying to play with my 300 dollar Acer notebook, do you have some kind of bitterness or resentment against those of us who cannot afford higher end hardware? Geez, I thought I was anal. You need to take a friggin' chill pill and back the **** off. Thanks. x R i c k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/126062-question-can-you-use-parallels-to-use-your-atheros-internal-wifi-card/#findComment-896900 Share on other sites
Descalzo
It's been my experience that the only hardware that Parallels can use is the virtual network card in your virtual machine, or a USB dongle that you assign to Parallels.
