daftdom
Hi Guys, I'm having loads of problems trying to get the 10.5.2 Kalyway disk to boot. My old build was fine, but this new one! Arrh! :-( I think it might be HDD related. I see the installer attempting to detect a hdd then go to USB stuff, im thinking it cant find my drive so tries and has a look via an external usb. Is this right? I get the dreaded still waiting for root device message! Arrrh! After reading through the posts i think the problem could be that I'm using an IDE DVD drive and a SATA hdd with my mobo. I did try using an IDE disk as primary and the DVD as secondary but that didnt work either. So my question is should I go out an buy a SATA DVD drive? I'm thinking that my SATA HDD is always going to be secondary to the IDE DVD, but if I get a SATA DVD then it might work. What do you think? I'm running the following hardware: MSI P35 Diamond Motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 Q6600 2 x 1GB OCZ DDR3 Mem 1 x 350GB SATA Maxtor HDD 1 x IDE DVD Drive Sapphire HD 2600 Pro Graphics Card Have I bought the wrong stuff!!! :-( I hope not, I've only just bought it on Friday! Any help would be great? If anyone can confirm getting rid of the IDE drive might work, I'll go out and buy a SATA today. daftdom
Guys, Just found this post too looks like it might be a motherboard and IDE problem. I believe that the P35 Diamond and P35 Neo are very similar. Any ideas? Thanks, Dom Update I have found on the wiki that the P35 neo needs an modded bios. see here If I applied this bios to my motherboard P35 Diamond would it break it? Or would the SATA DVD fix this problem?
