Can a Matrox G400 dual head (in single display mode) work with OSX86 at more than 800x600 resolution?

Using '?video' at boot prompt show various resolution options and 800x600 is the highest, but not sure if this means a higher one is not possible.

Display Preferences also shows just a single resolution - 800x600.

Typing "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" at the boot prompt makes no difference - still boots to 800x600.

Can anyone post a solution to the above?

I understand that 'com.apple.boot.plist' can be edited with new graphics resolution settings. Can someone post detailed instructions for a complete newbie on how to modify this file? The file is in its folder but don't know what application I use to edit it with, and how to go about that editing so that no errors are introduced.
