Hey Guys...

I am stumped. I have installed OSX in the early days with the vmware flat image with no troubles on my x300 laptop...but I am stumped with this one.

Dell GX270, Hyper Threading is off A-06 bios (latest) and boot from IDE-CD (which is actually a dvd-rom).

Using 8f1111 Wesley patch with md5sum = C764EECC7F3D45F3033AEEAFE75B57EF

Boot up and either have ide-cdrom as first boot device or hitting f12 select boot device ide-cdrom...disk spins for seconds and dvd-rom light flashes...but then times out and boot from ide HD.

I tried another dvd-rom/burner combo drive....same behavior. I have burned the dvd iso several times.

Can somebody throw me a bone...I am happy to try something like the old style flat image thing with dd from a shell in live cd linux distro, but can't find any details on doing such with 10.4.3.

Thanks for any hints!

I am still stumped but after giving up and the box being powered down for a couple of hours...came back and powered it on to find that..SURPRISE SURPRISE...it boot from the dvd....who the heck knows....it's installing now...in case anyone is interested.

Yeah

I had a similar behavior with mine.

So I ended up setting the HD with the original Cable as CS (Cable Select) in the Primary Controller

The DVD in the Secondary Controller as Master (MA)

It worked fine after getting the same behavior for a couple of times
