DravenJ
So I have only seen this issue mentioned once in this forum and i am wondering if anyone knows anything about this. I have a PowerBook and I have a IBM T41 setup with 10.4.5 and I notice differences in System Preferences and the icons I keep by the clock at the top right. For instance the bluetooth icon at the top right on my powerbook has the option to allow me to turn it off, however on the IBM I do not have that option. Also in System Preferences I have the different options in the Energy Saver area. This leads me to think that the reason why things are like this are because my powerbook knows it is a PowerBook and my IBM thinks it is a Developement Box (ie Desktop). For instance if you go to "About This Mac" and then click "More Info" System Profiler will open and tell you the Machine Name, for the IBM is Apple Developement Platform and Machine Model is ADP2,1. For my Powerbook Machine Name is PowerBook G4 15", and Machine Model is PowerBook5,2. So I think it would be more important for us to try an figure out how to tell the system it is a laptop and not Desktop. I do not know if it is as easy as correcting the System Profiler stuff mentioned above, but I do think that this would be a better way to solve the error of not seeing the battery icon at the top right by the clock, instead of using a hack. Does anybody else know any other information about this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12560-different-computer-profiles/ Share on other sites
