Vinny1967
I'm pretty new to all this stuff but I've been playing around with it for the last few weeks, just trying to get a feel for it and trying to get things working. Most problems that I've come across I've been able to solve through the forum or googling. So here's my problem. After trying all different dvd's available I found that 10.5.4 works best for me regarding installation but I've never been able to install audio or video drivers. If I select kexts during install, then I get the blue or grey screen but with nothing selected I can install without a problem.I've no idea which type of patch or kext I'm suppose to select cause I'll admit it.....i'm a noob when it comes to technical stuff. If anyone could suggest how I could get audio and video drivers working then I'd be very grateful.I'm dual booting with vista on 1 disk and kalyway on another. neogen
Hi Well basically ( and trust me im not a Mac guru just expirence of my own installs) if i was you i would do the following: From your specs i assume that you are running two cards in the same machine? ( SLI or whatever) take one out, from what i have read mac dont play well with dual cards. Just use one monitor for install, and one hdd, i know this defeats the object of having that hardware but it may be foobing instalation cos of the dual cards etc... Try install using the bare minimum of hardware and you might get lucky, then once installed you can play and see what happens. Your getting the blue screen cos of the graphics cards i would say not the kexts your installing. Search the forums for answers to the audio, but again i would suggest disabling audio in bios and see if that helps. Hope that makes sense lol Regards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/124108-quick-question-i-hope/#findComment-878200 Share on other sites
Vinny1967
I didn't even know i had dual video adapters .The reason i want to install on a second hdd is because I've got vista installed on the other and from what I've read,it's better to first install kalyway and then install vista which would mean formatting and i'm just trying to avoid that at the moment. Some ppl here suggest that installing on a seperate disc is the better option.I could well shrink the volume on the vista disc and try install there but I'm not sure if it would improve my position.BTW I'm only using one monitor cause I've only got one ,so I'm not sure why it shows up as two.Maybe it's the same story for the video card ?.
