ph7ryan
Cause I had it up and running, but then I installed ubuntu (which makes you install it on the root drive), and now even if I just try and run the intaller disk, it says that it is waiting for either a 60 or 80 (I can't remember which one) pin root drive....and then it will repeat the line "still waiting for root device" if it does have to be on the root of the drive is there a way around it.... Thanks for any help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/124107-does-it-need-to-be-installed-on-the-root-of-your-hard-drive/ Share on other sites
ph7ryan
bump.. I have tried multiple things including: having the hard drive on its own without ubuntu installed (master) a master with slave with the Master the drive with osx it said something about a usb wake event, and I had a usb pci card in, so i removed that, and still all remains I have a 160 gb IDE HDD as the Master and a 10gb IDE HDD set as the slave I know this is a common problem, but I have exausted all the solutions that I could find, and I know that my hardware is compatable because i had it working before, and made no hardware changes, only installed ubuntu, and it didn't work andy more....
