Tornamen
Problem: I have two partitions: First: Windows XP Pro (NTFS) 24.654,4 MB, it is primary. Second: Empty (Without format) 13.499,9 MB, it is primary. I try to install MAC OS X86 8F1111 and I saw an error (with -v): Still waiting for root device. Without -v i saw The apple image with a circle of prohibited. + info, view boot (down). Proccess: (I don´t have SSE3 and NX, but I have SSE2). 1) I used: macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg 2) I converted dmg to ISO (ULTRAISO). 3) I Uncompressed the Maxxuss_Kernel_Patches_8F1111_Release2.zip and patched mach_kernel.orig with: - patch-mach_kernel-sse3_emulation-v4_2b.ppf (I don´t have SSE3, but I have SSE2). - patch-mach_kernel-nonx.ppf (I don´t have NX). - patch-mach_kernel-cpuid.ppf (I saw Panic EIP 0x192a93). 4) I renamed mach_kernel.orig to mach_kernel. 5) I remplaced mach_kernel from the ISO with mach_kernel patched. 6) I patched the ISO with: MaxxussAntiTPM_10[1].4.3_8F1111_raw.zip (TransMac). 7) I patched boot for SSE2 (bootpatcher_8f1111.zip): - java -jar bootpatcher_8f1111.zip macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso Maxxuss BootPatcher for 10.4.3, version 0.1_8F1111 It will patch: SSE3 Check macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso: 100%, 3 replacements done. - Boot: Darwin/X86 v5.0.132 511MB memory VESA v2.0 64 MB (ATI MOBILITY RAEDON 9600 ) [F8] Use keys to select the startup volume. hd(31,0) MAC OS X Install DVD Press Enter... boot: -v [ENTER] Loading Darwin/x86 Loading kernel mach_kernel Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 4230a50 Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 4230a50 LoadDrivers: Loading from [system/Library/Extensions.mkext] Loading HFS+ file: [system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230a50 Loading HFS+ file: [system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230a50 hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000 PAE enabled standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us mig_table_max_displ = 71 CPU identification: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz CPU features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HIT TM TPR HIT: 0 core per package; 1 logical cpu per package CPU extended features: Enabling XMM register save/restore and SSE/SSE2 opcodes [RTCLOCK] frequency 2800000000 (2800100820) ACPI CA 20050916 [debug level=0 layer=0] AppleACPICPU: ProcessorApicId=0 LocalApicId=0 Enabled Copyright © 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 The Regents of the University of California. Macintel1
Hello: I have the exact answer to your problem. It took me 3 weeks to figure it out myself. You will, though, need to purchase an external DVD Drive that plugs in by USB. The problem you're having is due to a driver called USBOHCI.kext within the driver IOUSBFamily.kext. My Method: First Install 10.4.1. Next Install TransMac (Google It) onto your windows partition. From your disk image, use transmac to put the file /System/Library/Extensions.mkext on your windows desktop or another convenient location. Next transfer the Extensions.mkext onto your 10.4.1 Partition. Open Terminal on 10.4.1. Use mkextunpack (a built in command) to unpack Extensions.mkext to a folder. Delete USBOHCI.kext from the newly made folder (Don't worry about IOUSBFamily.kext; just leave it). Use Kextcache (Another built in command) to pack the files back into a file and call it Extensions.mkext. Transfer this new Extensions.mkext onto your windows partition. On Windows, use Transmac to replace the original Extensions.mkext with the new Extensions.mkext. Save and Burn the ISO. Buy an External DVD rom or DVD burner. Plug it in using the USB port and put the newly burned disk in the drive. Boot Your Computer When it starts to say still waiting for root device, unplug and replug it. This should enable your computer to recognize the root device. ----------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions please post back. Acers are really hard to work with, especially driverwise. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12396-a-problem/#findComment-151741 Share on other sites
