Success with Inspiron 6000

Installed 10.4.5 Myzar DVD.

 

Audio: worked natively and is good. No tweaks. Although the Profiler says No Audio. Will installing Sigmatel audio drivers improve quality of the audio?

 

Video: ATI Radeon X300 128MB works fine with koverg 0.2 patch. very very little mouse tearing (refresh issues). Getting 1280x1024 (only option available with a fixed refresh rate.) No widescreen support. (Known issue). What happens when I change to 1680 resolution and boot?

 

OnBoard ethernet: should work. Haven't tested it yet.

 

Wireless: Dell Truemobile 1370 (corrresponds to Broadcom 4318). Tip: Replace 4324 with 4318. Works great. Also showing Airport interface for signal strength, list of available Access points with a nice UI.

 

DVD Player: NEC NC-6550A. Works wonderfully. Also played a DVD movie works great. No mouse artifacts.

 

Screensaver: Works great. I think it uses OpenGL. No issues. Activates automatically after the set time.

 

DVD/CD burning: Haven't tried that yet. It should work. But, in Profiler under Disc Burner, it shows Burn: Yes (Unsupported). What does that mean? Any clues?

 

My only gripe is Power Management...How do I make it work? On the first place, how do I see power mgmt settings on OS X? Pretty new to Mac itself. Please help me. I'm seeing a driver for PowerManagement in this forum. Will that driver help me?

 

Also, trying to set up to dual boot with XP. What is the best and accurate way? I tried to install OS X by formatting empty space and it also formatted my working XP parttiton by issuing a warning. How do I go over it? Pointers appreciated.
