Few Answers:

1) I use this Cable modem becuase this is one of the best Modems ever made! never had even 1 problem with it. Old not necessaraly say that it's not good, the contrast, it's better!.

2)I'm using my usb because the ISP gave me the modem with USB (altough there is an ethernet connection in the Motorola sb4101 modem) and my xp is doing well with it. never had any problem with downloads, although maybe I don't know what you're talking about since I have never experiensed my connection with an ethernet..just usb wiring.

3) I Have ethernet connection in the back of the modem + at the back of my pc. (and I've just bought an ethernet cable, hopfully I'll get it by tomorrow.)

By the way, do you know how to configure a dialer to the net on mac os x? because that's what I have.

what I meant was I have a software who "dial" to the ISP servers for authontication. (User name+Password).

And yes, it's called a dialer, that's how I am able to connect on win xp.

and I have to connect ethernet inorder for it to work. (that's what the company said).

Seems strange for a cable modem but I just checked and their is an option to create a PPPoE service on my nic in the Network Preferences Pane this is most likely what you will have to use although that is usually for ASDL users. You should call your ISP again and make sure this is what you need to use you want to mention you are using Mac OS X as well they may have software that will set all this up for you.

ok, thank you. I'll call them as soon as the ethernet cable will arrive at my door step, and yesterday I called them and they told me the same, that I need to be with all the equipment (meaning ethernet+infront of the "mac") and that's it.

* I wanted to ask you another question: What is the best antivirus software for the mac? and best "office" software?

thanks for the quick response!
