My Experience with osx86 so far...(yeah it worked)

OK i started playing around with osx86 around 2 weeks ago. i have a dell inspiron 600m. So i started with KALWAY 10.5.1 but this is of no help as after the installation, when i restart, i see the white screen with apple logo, and then boom it restarts and this keeps happening..then i gave up.

 

My Second attempt started with Kalway 10.5.2. I selected all the options that were listed by this forum.

i followed everything as told by Hyperi0n.v2. So the installation was quite smooth. but after i rebooted i see a white screen thats it. it just stucks there so i read somewhere that it could be a display issue. so this is what is do

 

at the reboot sceen where it says darwin loader i press f8.

then -s

then mount -uw -a

///please note -a as just mount -uw did not work on my pc...for some reason it kept saying file system readonly

cd /system/library/extensions/

now do a ls ATI*.kext

and run this command for each of the listed directory

rm -r ATIRandeon8500.kext

after you have run this for all the ATI kext

now also do

rm -r Natit.kext ( this was the turning point)...i dont know whether removing all ATI*.kext helped me, because i was still seeing the probelm. it was only after i removed natit that the display worked.

 

so after i restart i see the welcome screen (my first burst of excitement)...but then i again came across a problem. after i select the country, it shows me a screen which says migrate from another mac etc. i select not now..it again goes back in loop. so the welcome screen keeps coming.

 

after a lot of search on the internet (thanx to search.live.com as google did not help much here)...i saw this blog post.

i followed all the instructions here and eureka i have my osx86 up and running on my pc.

 

NEXT STEP...getting wifi to work....GOOD LUCK guys with your installation....uffff
