OxC0FFEE
Background: I have come across an HP Compaq DX2200 tower (likely sold as a server). As such it has integrated video, 1gb ram, a P4 and, more importantly, a CD drive but no DVD drive. It has a SATA hard drive and a PATA CD-ROM drive. I don't have a DVD drive laying around, else I'd go that route with a burned DVD of the install image. I downloaded JaS.OSx86.10.5.4.Client.Server.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 and, with an intel iMac and a USB HD sled, used Disk Utility to restore the iso to a singly-partitioned PATA HD, formatted as Mac OS Extended. I tried disconnecting the CD-ROM from the tower and putting the HD with the JaS install image in its place (jumpered as master). The machine sees the disk, lets me try to boot from it, but fails saying: DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER _ Is there something I need to do to make the disk bootable, or am I missing something else here? Thanks! Kim EDIT: after some looking, it seems that there is a "flat leopard image" of a preinstalled version of leopard floating around as well as the JaS DVD, but reports are that it's outdated. Would it be easiest to use this or is JaS more compatible with more hardware and more up to date? To clarify, is mine a problem with the distro I chose, or with my method of installing it? furthermore, the motherboard is MSI n1996.
